The Christ Hospital Topping Off Event

The Kleingers Group recently attended The Christ Hospital Topping Off Event Ceremony. We were proud to join the other design team members on this exciting day to celebrate the final beam being placed on the new Joint and Spine Center facility.  The Kleingers Group is assisting with two separate projects on The Christ Hospital Campus that expand their current facilities. A Materials Management Building and Spine Center addition is currently under construction. The centerpiece of the expansion plan includes the development of a unique facility dedicated solely to orthopedic and spine care, designed to support physicians, patients, and families. The 332,000 square foot facility, will be connected just south of the main hospital and provide separate access for patients and visitors.

The new facility will include 60 private inpatient rooms, 10 operating rooms, physical and occupational therapy services, imaging services, pain management, physician offices and administration offices, and underground parking for approximately 150 vehicles. The Kleingers Group is serving as the local engineer for the project, assisting the design team with general reviews of drawings, providing guidance and coordination with local jurisdiction, processing permits for the City of Cincinnati, DOTE, and other local entities. The Kleingers Group also provided site survey and a traffic study for the entire site.

Attending the ceremony, from left to right, were Project Team Members Glen Magrino and Mark Nolt, and all-around good guys Jim Kleingers and Steve Korte.

University Station Mixed-Use Project Underway

The long awaited University Station mixed-use project is set to begin construction. The Kleingers Group has participated in many aspects of the development site located at Montgomery Road and Cleneay Avenue adjacent to Xavier University’s Campus. The unique project, which is a collaboration of The Ackermann Group, Messer Construction, and Xavier University, is conceived and designed as a pedestrian-friendly urban space set upon 20-acres of land. Kleingers’ intrepid team of engineers, surveyors, and field crews have been working in a collaborative effort alongside the design team, City of Norwood, City of Cincinnati, various community leaders and Xavier University over the past two years. The design links previous work completed by The Kleingers Group to the new development; including site design at Hoff Quad, traffic impact studies, signal design, and widening projects along the Montgomery Road and Dana Avenue Corridors. The new off-campus development is intended to serve the University and its neighbors. The pedestrian oriented urban space creates a welcoming environment for the whole community to serve as more than a ‘standard’ mixed-use environment.

University Station brings a welcomed visual and economic improvement to the University’s neighboring communities. The $54 million Phase One development is located on 15 acres designed to include office space, retail, restaurants, a Xavier University bookstore, 900 parking spaces, and a 180 unit apartment complex.

Incorporating existing site features of the former Zumbiel Packaging and BASF plant into the design, while satisfying pedestrian connectivity & budget requirements, presented a challenge to the development team. Throughout the design project, Kleingers worked with the Client to navigate these issues to help make this exciting project a reality. Phase One of the project presents a tight schedule, breaking ground in mid-July with a scheduled completion of Fall 2014. The second phase of the development will include additional office space, retail, and a possible hotel.

Kleingers Assists Solar Planet with Sustainable Energy Projects

No, this photo is not taken from the set of an upcoming sci-fi movie.  It’s something much cooler than that.  The Kleingers Group is excited to announce our involvement with Solar Planet in the construction of cutting-edge solar array fields throughout the State of Ohio. Solar Planet is a leader in the field of solar power.  Our services on this sustainable energy project included performing boundary and topographic surveys, utility research and location, preparation of legal descriptions and exhibits for easements and construction staking, as well as site due diligence research.  We have worked together on sites throughout much of the State of Ohio for these new renewable energy facilities ranging from approximately 3 acres to approximately 15 acres in size.
